Medical device and diagnostic companies are a thriving sector in Ireland. Over 250 companies employ 25,000 people here – the highest number of people working in the industry in any country in Europe, per head of population.
The sector has a very bright future, and this infographic from Eucomed.org shows that the industry employs over half a million people in Europe, with an annual growth rate of 5%. Global sales of medical technology is larger than the GDP of Sweden or Switzerland.
