Microsoft – creating the technology of the future

Microsoft is one of the most successful technology companies in the world.

We are pioneering research and development in new product areas such as digital media and television, Xbox 360, search, security, mobile computing, and online services.

Our operations in Ireland include software development and operations, finance, HR, as well as sales and marketing for both the local and European markets. We employ over 1,900 people in Ireland in areas that include product testing, product development, marketing, human resources, finance, business operations, IT and support services.

Working with Microsoft

While we generally look for people with 3rd level qualifications in business, computer science, IT, design, sales and marketing, we still see people from a variety of backgrounds with relevant experience.

Microsoft employees have a passion for creating quality products that can help people to realise their potential. We are driven to make an impact at work, in our community and in the world. We recognise the unique value of our diversity and the value that it brings.

Our model helps employees to manage their careers and identify opportunities for progress. Our staff members have the option to engage in some 2,000 training programs that are offered online or in classrooms around the globe. You can’t beat the level of investment we place on career development.

“A career in the technology is a ‘future proofed’ career; technology is now a huge part of all our lives and is driving business and social change around the world. The roles of tomorrow are not just for those from a science background but are open to all students from multidisciplinary backgrounds. I would encourage every student to prepare themselves by getting the necessary skills to be a part of this exciting industry.”

- Michael Meagher, Academic Engagement Manager

Pay and benefits

Our staff enjoy pension, free healthcare and free onsite gym. All of our employees can sample alternative therapy – including reflexology, aromatherapy massage/reiki, and shiatsu, among others – free of charge. These sessions are run at regular intervals in one of the occupational health rooms in all of our buildings.

We have many sports clubs such as GAA and rugby as well as social clubs which offer discounts on events and concerts.

We operate internships that last up to 12 months and now include three-month summer internships as well. Our programme begins with an in-depth induction, followed by on-the-job training, bespoke skills training and one-to-one performance reviews. Above all, you’ll do real work and have the opportunity to make a genuine impact on our business.

Our graduate opportunities balance work and training to provide the perfect link between academia and professional life. With technical, business and MACH (Sales, Marketing & Services) routes to choose from, our programmes are your doorway into the world of Microsoft. All of our graduate opportunities are full-time, permanent roles with Microsoft Ireland.
