Established in 1998, the Sun Life Financial office in Waterford now employs about 400 people and 180 of these are involved in IT and software development.
Our Waterford office provides software development, business administration and technical support to Sun Life’s US and Canadian divisions. Our teams engage in software projects with our colleagues in Toronto and Boston and are typically focused on the re-engineering, improvement and replacement of existing financial applications.
Our growth plan means that we now have a number of vacancies. We are looking for graduate and senior IT professionals to join our team, particularly Front End developers, JAVA/J2EE developers and quality assurance engineers.
Successful candidates typically have an academic background in computer science, applied computing or information technology. We require technical knowledge of XML, HTML, Cold Fusion, Java/J2EE, C, C++, UNIX, Windows NT, MS SQL Server, COBOL and Visual Basic.
We look for dedicated team-players who demonstrate excellent communication and analytical skills as well as an enthusiasm for learning. We have a close working relationship with Waterford Institute of Technology (WIT).
Located near to our offices, WIT has developed two courses – the Higher Diploma in IT (BSA) and the Masters in Distributed Systems – that are tailored to our business needs.
Our Learning and Development team deliver a range of technical and soft-skill training courses to our staff, enabling them to update and expand their expertise.
Our “Stretch” programme offers management training and our “PlanIT” programme assists interested employees in making the transition to IT-related roles with Sun Life Financial.
