Smart Futures Competition – FAQ

Please note that the deadline for entries for the Smart Futures digital content competition was 27 January 2012. Read the list of winners.

As part of the Smart Futures campaign we ran a nationwide competition in which secondary students were invited to create a piece of digital content reflecting the theme “Smart Futures” – students were free to interpret the theme whichever way they wished.

The competition was open to all second-level students living in and attending school in Ireland.

The categories

There were eight categories and participants could enter as many categories as they  liked, but only one submission was allowed per category. Participants had to enter as an individual. The categories were:

  1. Best Animation
  2. Best Audio (music)
  3. Best Game
  4. Best Mobile App or Mobile Website
  5. Best Podcast
  6. Best Tech Article
  7. Best Video (non-animation)
  8. Best Website

The prizes

Each category in the competition was sponsored by a leading company in the world of technology in Ireland, and each category had a first and second prize.

These prizes ranged from Xbox Kinect to Nokia Lumnia Windows phone, HP laptop, iPad, Samsung Home Cinema and even student work placements with top companies.
