IT students create apps of the future

IT graduates at NUI Galway have won awards recently for new technologies including a musical score app for mobile devices, computer security, and an online hotel booking system.

Digital content competition

The Smart Futures competition is open to all second-level students in Ireland.

To take part, simply create a piece of digital content reflecting the theme “Smart Futures”- There are eight categories to choose from: Best video, music, animation, podcast, game, mobile app, website or tech article.

There are great prizes on offer such as Xbox Kinect, laptops, iPad, home cinemas and even work placements at leading ICT companies in Ireland. Read more about the competition.

Irish animators pick up a Bafta

Irish animation company Boulder Media was among the winners at this year’s Bafta Children’s Awards. The company co-produces “The Amazing World of Gumball” which won the best animation and best writer awards.
