Openet provides software to telecommunications and media service providers worldwide, such as Meteor, Vodafone and Orange. Our software gives these providers the ability to manage and correctly charge for their services, such as SMS, data usage and phone calls.
With our products, we enable our customers to allow their users the ability to buy bandwidth for their iPads. This is an emerging and exciting market.
We currently employ 800 people worldwide. Openet has offices in Dublin, Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia, Reston in Virginia, USA and Sao Paulo in Brazil.
“Choose to work with the smartest people every day. Choose being challenged to constantly expand the way you think and work. Choose selecting new technologies, or creating them, to solve your problems. Choose being able to fundamentally improve the lives of those around you. Choose being in control of your career. Choose making a difference. Choose a career in ICT.”
- Oisin Loftus, Openet
At Openet, graduates start in a rotation of various roles where they learn the ropes and get a taste of what they like. After a year they chose between these, with the aid of the graduate career mentor.
These roles include:
- Engineering
- Product architecture and development
- Web development
- Programming languages such as Java and C++
- Testing
- Technical writing
- Training
- Professional services
- Oracle database administration
The qualifications we look for to fulfil ICT roles are a bachelor’s degree in Engineering or equivalent experience.
First and foremost we are looking for people who are enthusiastic, willing to learn, and open to feedback and guidance. Once you have most, if not all, of the technical skills listed below and have the drive outlined above, then you will be a welcome addition to our family:
- C and C++
- UNIX OOD
- Java NT VC++
- Telecom networking protocols
- Oracle
There are many paths open to graduates at Openet – they may choose technical outlets of engineering, design or testing. Training is available to all who wish to progress in a technical or managerial capacity.
We encourage employees to pursue what they are interested in and become Subject Matter Experts (SME) in that particular area. Therefore, our employees pursue what they are most interested in to keep their job fresh.
The evidence is in the number of employees we have in Openet for 10 years or more, even with all this fresh blood coming in.
Other benefits
You get 21 holidays per year and service days (adding up each year to a total of 26 days). If you are working in a job that requires travel then these days can be of huge benefit to get an extra level of involvement in that culture and get to know locals.
Other benefits include Aviva health insurance (our plan even includes money off up to 25 massages a year!), pension plan option (to pave the road to those long holidays on the beach in retirement), long-term disability and life assurance.
The Sports & Social Club runs monthly meetings, which have covered a night walk up the Hell Fire Club, orienteering, pottery class, rafting, go-karting, trips to Dublin Oktoberfest, poker and table quiz nights. Employees have also set up football games and fantasy rugby drives.
